Ravenna – The Portage County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society will meet Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Portage County Historical Society at 10:00 a.m. The society is located at 6549 N. Chestnut St., Ravenna, Ohio.
The program entitled “Will the Real Warren Harris Please Stand Up?” will be presented by Mary Milne Jamba. She will show which records correspond with which man when four men in the same area share the same name by following a case study. Milne-Jamba currently serves as trustee and education chair of the Ohio Genealogical Society (OGS), treasurer of the Great Lakes Chapter of the Association of Professional Genealogists, program chair of the Genealogical Committee of the Western Reserve Historical Society, DNA User Group Leader at the Computer Assisted Genealogy Group and immediate past president of the Greater Cleveland Chapter of the OGS. She has been involved in genealogical research for 24 years.
The program is free and open to anyone interested in genealogy or local history. A fourteen page newsletter is published bimonthly for members. It contains an assortment of genealogy and historical material relating to Portage County. The genealogy chapter meets the first Saturday of the month at the Portage County Historical Society at 10:00 a.m. from September through May, with no meeting in January,
