Ravenna – Portage County Commissioners reopened the County Administration Building to the public beginning Jan. 25, 2021 from 8 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., Monday through Friday.
Offices under the direction of the Commissioners were advised to bring back staffing from when the COVID-19 pandemic moved operations remotely.
Board of Commissioners President Sabrina Christian-Bennett advised citizens with business at county offices to call ahead to the office to ensure hours of operation or other specific requests like preferred appointments versus walk-in.
Citizens will have access to the building through the main entrance off of the parking lot and the Meridian Street entrance.
Masks are mandated in the building. Staff will be stationed at entrances to take visitor temperatures. Staff will also regularly be disinfecting traffic areas.
It should be noted that, while the County Administration Building opened on Monday, the treasurers office is remaining closed for in-person payment for this tax collection (through 3/1/21). They will reevaluate when the collection concludes.
Taxpayers can pay their bills online or over the phone, and can take advantage of drop boxes in the Administration Building parking lot and on the treasurer’s office counter. While we discourage cash payment via drop box, that is an option for taxpayers who need to pay in cash. We encourage taxpayers to pay in exact amounts, as we will not be providing change. Any over payments will be forwarded to the taxpayer’s next applicable tax bill. Payment verification is available to taxpayers upon request and you should include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for this purpose.
