Ravenna – Reed Memorial Library has brought back its monthly Puzzle Exchange, modified to fit within current pandemic restrictions. “The monthly exchange is a longstanding library event and very popular with our community,” related Alison Shelley, Children’s’ Outreach Coordinator. “Everyone has really missed the puzzle exchange since COVID-19 hit. We’ve worked hard to bring this event back safely under the current restrictions.”
Usually, patrons bring puzzles and exchange them for new ones on the same day. “Now, we’re organizing it as a delayed exchange,” Shelley explained, “since we have to allow time to quarantine the puzzles before everyone takes them home.”
In October, patrons may drop off up to 10 gently-used puzzles and the library will quarantine them for safety. On Saturday, November 7, those puzzles will be up for grabs at the library’s Puzzle Exchange.
All donated puzzles will be quarantined for a minimum of 96 hours, as recommended by the CDC. To allow for social distancing, those interested in the exchange must register for a preferred time slot (9:00-9:45, 10:00-10:45 or 11:00-11:45) and arrive on November 7th within their time slot to participate. The puzzle selection will be refreshed between each time slot by RML staff.
“Patrons may also bring puzzle donations to the November 7th exchange, but the library will put them into quarantine for safety and save them for the December puzzle exchange,” said Shelley.
Puzzle donation dates are Friday-Sunday, October 23-25 and Friday-Sunday, October 30-November 1 during regular library hours. Bring puzzles to the Public Services desk.
Call Reed Memorial Library at 330-296-2827 or go to reedlibrary.org to register for the exchange. Attendees will be required to wear an appropriate facial covering, practice distancing, and receive a temperature check from RML staff before entering the event space.
