Ravenna – The Portage Park District Foundation (PPDF) and the Madonio Family Animal Welfare Trust (MFAWT) are searching for the perfect pooch and it could very well be your dog. The PERFECT POOCH OF PORTAGE will be chosen through an online photo contest with the dog receiving the most votes crowned as the PERFECT POOCH of 2019. The contest runs from through May 8, 2019.
“We have some really great prizes for the winners. Thirsty Dog Brewing Company is our brewery sponsor and will brew a special pilsner that will feature the winning dog’s picture on the label, along with smaller pictures of 2nd and 3rd place finishers. The top ten winning dogs will be featured on a billboard for one month,” said Chas Madonio, originator of the MFAWT. The families of the top ten winning dogs will also be treated to a tour and tasting at Thirsty Dog Brewing Co.
“Both our organizations are thrilled about this event. Entering your dog is easy and done online. Once your dog is entered, the fun really begins because there is a competition for votes,” said Sally Kandel, president of the PPDF. “You can track your dog’s progress on the contest website’s leaderboard.”
There is a $10 entry fee to post your dog, and your dog will automatically receive 10 votes when you enter. Once entered, votes are $1 each. There is no limit on the amount or how many times owners and friends can vote for the “perfect” dog.
Net proceeds from this fundraiser will be split between the PPDF and MFAWT. The PPDF will use the funds to start a dedicated fund for trail development for its parks. MFAWT will use the funds for its mission of supporting local animal groups and providing food to pets of folks receiving Meals in Motion.
“We know that this area has some really great dogs and I bet the perfect pooch is out there just waiting to be discovered,” said Kandel.
