PCDL Reopens to the Public

1078

Portage County District Library (PCDL) is pleased to announce that we have reopened our doors to the public.

There will be a number of necessary changes to the way that our libraries operate. We will be enforcing time limits for patrons inside our branches, with visits capped at one hour. We will also be limiting the number of patrons allowed inside our buildings at one time, those numbers are based on the size and layout of our buildings, and will vary from branch to branch.

While we will be open for public browsing and computer usage, patrons will note that aisles between shelves have been marked for one-way traffic, and that some public computers will not be in use to aid in physical distancing practices. Some aspects of service, such as in-person assistance with our computers, will not be offered at this time. Plexiglass barriers have been installed at our public service desks, and we ask that patrons stand in designated areas and respect social distancing guidelines.

Alongside the statewide mandate for masks in public spaces, the Portage County District Library Board of Trustees has approved policy requiring the wearing of protective face coverings inside our buildings, this policy applies to all patrons over the age of 2. This policy is available for review on the PCDL website. We will still be offering our contactless pick-up service during this time, and will refer anyone who is unable to wear a mask for health or other reasons to please make use of this service. Any further exceptions must be requested in writing to the Library Director for consideration.

We at the library have appreciated the outpouring of support from our community during this time, and we look forward to seeing you again in a safe and responsible manner. For more information, visit www.portagelibrary.org.
