PCDL Announces Summer Reading Program for Families

2450

Portage County District Library (PCDL) announces that its annual summer reading program for children will continue this year with significant participation and event changes. These changes have been made to ensure that PCDL continues to follow state and federal government COVID-19 guidelines, and for the continued safety and well-being of patrons and staff. This year’s “Imagine Your Story” summer reading program is designed to be completed by families at home. Parents are being invited to participate with their children this year, to complete simple tasks on a game board as a family. Parents can call their preferred branch library to schedule a time to pick up their game board.

The game board features 12 stops where families are asked to complete one or more tasks. These range from reading a book that is part of a series to reading under a table to going on a nature hunt in your yard, all intended to be fun and engaging activities for the entire family. When their game board has been completed, with at least one task at each of the 12 stops performed, families may return their game board to receive a free “A PCDL Super Reader Lives Here!” sign for their front yard. Parents are being asked to call their preferred branch library to schedule a time for picking up their yard sign. Branch libraries include Aurora Memorial (330-562-6502), Garrettsville (330-527-4378), Pierce Streetsboro (330-626-4458), Randolph (330-325-7003), and Windham (330-326-3145).
