Paul D. Szabo, 81, of Hiram Twp., OH, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2024. He was born December 31, 1942, in Cleveland, OH, to the late Paul and Margaret (Petric) Szabo.
He moved with his parents to the Hiram area when he was a baby. After graduating from Hiram High School, Paul enlisted in the U.S. Navy before he turned 18; he claimed the Navy offered him a dry bed, warm food, an education, and a chance to see some of the world. After his discharge from the Navy, he married Marilynn J. West, whom Paul met in study hall when she was in 8th grade, and he a junior in high school. Paul was an avid fisherman and vegetable gardener who enjoyed sharing his bounty with family and friends. He loved being outdoors, especially when he was cutting and splitting wood, or sitting around the fire pit while swapping tales.
Paul will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Marilynn, who was blessed to share over 59 years of marriage; daughter, Jennifer (Rick) Packo; siblings, Richard Szabo, Jeffrey (Deborah) Szabo, Pamela (William) Crandall, and many nephews, nieces, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
