As autumn comes to a close, you may be working your way through your own Fall Bucket list. And if a visit to a corn maze is in your plans, then you’re in luck! The area is fortunate to have several corn mazes that are open through the end of October. Mazes are listed in alphabetical order; please call to verify hours and activities.

Derthick’s Corn Maze is located at 5182 State Route 82 in Mantua. For the past 15 years, this 200-year-old farm has hosted one of the largest professionally cut corn mazes in Ohio. Your admission ticket gives you access to two corn mazes spread across 17-acres of corn. Corn maze entry, bonfire access and human hamster wheels are included with your admission; bouncing cow train, corn cannons, a mega slide, selecting a pumpkin at the patch, and a zip line are available at additional charges. Derthick’s Mazes are open weekends through November 1st, Fridays 6 pm until 11 pm, Saturdays 1 pm until 11 pm, and Sundays noon until 6 pm.

A recent visitor to Derthick’s Corn Maze shared, “Looking for a fun fall place to take your kids to during a pandemic? Big spaces! Open country! Well worth the drive. It was seriously the most relaxing places I have been to this year. 2020 has made me feel so bottled up. Contained. Masks. Hospital stays. Working from home. Like my world got smaller. But on all that land, my mask didn’t feel nearly as constricting. This place was good for my soul. Come visit!”

Due to recent complaints of mischief and destructive behavior, anyone 15 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult who accompanies them into the maze. Last tickets of the day are sold 90 minutes before close. Admission is $10 per person for ages 4-64 and $6 per person 65 and over. Cash and credit cards are accepted; credit card uses pay an additional $1 per person service fee. Visit derthickscornmaze.com online or on Facebook for specials and activity updates, or call them at (330) 569-8661.

Guyette Corn Maze is open Saturdays from noon until 7pm and Sundays from noon until 5pm now through November 1st. The maze, round bale obstacle course, square bale maze, corn box slide, mini round bale obstacle course, hamster wheels, gourd golf, the launcher, 40ft and 80ft slides and petting zoo are all still included with admission. Due to Covid-19, the indoor play area, hayride and corn box are unavailable. While visiting, select pumpkins, gourds, cornstalks, straw bales, and Indian corn at their market for your fall decorating needs. Guyette’s own honey and maple syrup are available for sale as well. Admission is $7 per person for ages 3 and up, and Guyette’s only accepts cash. Guyette Corn Maze is located at 10833 Chamberlain Road in Mantua. For more information, call them at (330) 562-5234 or visit www.guyettefarms.com.

In nearby Geauga County, Patterson Farms hosts a corn maze each fall as well. The maze is located at their Mulberry Road location (8765 Mulberry Road in Chesterland). Due to Covid restrictions, access to the Farm Activity Area will be walking only; wagon rides to transport visitors will not take place. The Farm Activity Area is open Monday through Thursday from 10 am until 6 pm at a cost of $6 per person. Entrance on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday opens from 10 am until 5 pm at a cost of $10 per person. The Paterson Farm Market, located at 11414 Caves Road, is open year round and full of all things fall. Visit to select pumpkins, gourds, straw, cornstalks and Indian corn. The market also features plenty of apples, honey, jams, and a bakery serving up donuts, pies and apple fritters each day. Visit pattersonfarm.com for updates or call (440) 729-9809.

Remember to plan at least a few hours to visit the farm of your choice and enjoy the mazes and activities. Wear your mask, and dress for the weather. Don’t forget proper shoes or boots, since fall showers can make for muddy maze paths. And when visiting a corn maze, remember that as fall progresses, sunset is earlier each night. After Mother Nature’s colorful sunset is over, a flashlight will be helpful to find your way out of the maze.
