Newton Falls Cemetery Association News

Newton Falls – Newton Falls Cemetery Association met February 20, 2014 at the Newton Township Administration Building on Newton Falls-Bailey Road. Susan Montgomery was welcomed as a new member. Fund raising ideas were discussed for a cemetery project to be decided upon at the next meeting. Another cemetery walk was proposed but details will be finalized at a later date. The Association plans to participate at the July 19-20, 2014 festival sponsored by the Pricetown Methodist Church to sell calendars.

A dinner sponsored by the Association will be held Saturday, April 05, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. at the First Christian Church, 17 N. Canal St., Newton Falls. The menu will be creamed chicken on biscuit, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, dessert, and beverages. Prices for the dinner are: Ages 12- Adults ($9.00 ), Ages 3-11 ($6.00) Ages 2 & under (free). Proceeds from the dinner will be used for a cemetery improvement project.

A 2015 calendar featuring local photographs may be produced by the Association. Anyone willing to loan photos to be considered for the 2015 calendar, please contact Mary Lou Drotar O’Lear at 330-872-5995. The photographs may be of local scenery, buildings, events, people, etc. All photos used will be returned.

A cemetery levy will be placed on the May 2014 ballot to support maintenance and improvements for the seven cemeteries in Newton Township and Newton Falls. Members of the Association will participate in publicizing the need for the levy.

The next Cemetery Association meeting will be March 20, 2014, 6:00 p.m. at the Administration Building.
