For two consecutive Saturdays, shoppers have enjoyed the opportunity to purchase locally produced goods such as Amish grown produce, fresh bakery, jams and jellies, kettle corn, fresh-squeezed lemonade as well as sample free delicious grilled goods prepared by UH chefs at the Middlefield Farmers Market in Mineral Lake Park.
Amish vendor Chris Fisher of D & S Organic Produce says, “Our organic sweet corn is in season and next Saturday, I will have my stand stocked. We will also have blueberries, raspberries, lettuce, several varieties of tomatoes and all other in-season organic vegetables.”
Ben Garlich, mayor of Middlefield says of the event, “I personally spent the entire morning at the market, during the first 2 weeks. It is fantastic, with lots of quality products and I have a great time seeing friends and catching up. I really look forward to Saturday mornings at the market”.
Kaitlyn Sirna, MFM market manager is planning a pie-eating contest for the week of July 27, so be prepared to participate. Admission is free every week and there will be plenty of giveaways and taste testing!
The Middlefield Farmers Market will take place every Saturday 9 a.m. to noon and continuing each Saturday through Sept. 28 at Mineral Lake Park, on 15700 Sperry Lane, in Middlefield.
