At Senior Night at Cardinal High in Middlefield, Hiram-based Communications Factory recognized Elaine Warren as the firm’s eleventh annual college scholarship recipient. Chosen from a large field of highly qualified applicants, Warren demonstrated a great knack for balancing the academic rigors and extracurriculars with her commitment to helping others. She’ll use the $1,000 award from the Factory to help offset some of the costs associated with her college education.
An impressive candidate, Warren has been an integral contributor for Auburn Career Center’s (ACC) Allied Health Technology, where she earned the title “Exemplary Student of 2012.” Susan Lefler, RN, Elaine’s Allied Health Technology instructor at ACC, found her to be a, “very compassionate individual.” That passion for helping others most recently helped her ACC SkillsUSA team bring home the “2013 Outstanding Achievement” award. Given Warren’s “caring attitude and willingness to help others,” Lefler believes Warren will be extremely successful in her chosen field of Early Childhood Education.
The Factory’s Brad Turner agrees, stating, “I’ve come to realize that, when it comes to a good ad – one that breaks through the clutter and gets noticed – it’s difficult to determine exactly what made the ad work. In fact, I’ve come to realize that I’ll know a good ad when I see one. Identifying the winner of this year’s Communications Factory scholarship was no different. When it came right down to it, we selected this year’s recipient because we just knew she was going to break through the clutter and make something big happen out there.” Turner beams, “We’re proud to support future leaders, like Elaine Warren, with our scholarship.”
On the road to becoming a future leader, Warren has served passionately as co-president on her school’s Student Council, and as a member of the Bully Prevention team and Students Against Destructive Decisions. In addition, Warren devotes time to volunteer at her local library, nearby nursing home, and as a big sister for the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Northeast Ohio.
This is the first year the Scholarship has been awarded to a student at Cardinal. Previous winners have hailed from schools across Northeastern Ohio, including Jefferson High, Our Lady of the Elms, Firestone High, Warren G. Harding High, Willoughby South High, Hudson High, Rootstown High, Crestwood High School, and Stow-Monroe Falls High School.
The Factory’s scholarship will be awarded again next year to another deserving area senior. Interested students should check the firm’s Web site (www.communicationsfactory.net) and local papers in early 2014 for the next scholarship application.
