Michael “Mike” B. Heyd, 66, of Garrettsville, OH, passed away with his loving family by his side Thursday, February 27, 2025. He was born December 25, 1958, in Ravenna, OH, to Esler A. and Melva M. (nee Hinzman) Heyd.
He was raised in Garrettsville, and was a proud graduate of James A. Garfield, belonging to the class of 1977. Mike met the love of his life, Karen McLean, when they were both teenagers. They married and started a family. Mike worked for 35 years for the village of Garrettsville, where he retired as the Superintendent in 2017. He also helped out with his father’s farm his entire life, and was fulfilled working the farm with his dad. Mike was a natural born homebody, and felt the best there, especially when he was with his family.
Mike will forever be missed by his children, Tara (Jason) Judge and Esler (Kenadi) B. Heyd; father, Esler A. Heyd; grandchildren, Blake (Chrislyn) Judge, Ryla Heyd, and Wren Heyd; sisters, Delvita (Ken) Porter and Karla (Mike) Veon, as well as many nephews, nieces, and dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Melva Heyd; wife, Karen Heyd, and granddaughter, Bailey Judge.

A funeral service will begin at the funeral home at 7:00 p.m., with Dr. Michael E. Carlson officiating.
