Drakesburg resident Michael Francis Brett X died September 13, 2020 while visiting in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was 34 years of age.
Michael was born November 12, 1985 in Ravenna Ohio to Thomas and Tish (Rock) Brett of Drakesburg. He entered the world thirsty for all it had to offer. He loved philosophy, music, writing, playing strategic games, mixed martial arts and battles of wit, and consistently created time and energy to pursue the things most important to him. Michael held a master’s degree in philosophy and was proud to incorporate this study into his daily life.
He was devoted to family first and foremost, prizing gatherings, holidays, family reunions, and the family’s yearly summer trips to O’Day Lake, Wisconsin above all else. While Michael prioritized his family overall, he treated all with whom he connected as brothers and sisters.
Michael is remembered for his enormous heart, loyalty, strength, devotion to truth, unyielding principles and concern for his fellow man. Those around him grew in his presence. He was the king of both puns and Scrabble and went at all of life with commanding passion.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Thomas and Mary Jane (Kerecman) Brett of Ravenna, his maternal grandparents Robert and Dodie (Hunt) Rock also of Ravenna, and infant cousin, Baby Pelaia.

Due to covid-19 the family plans no immediate services and are hoping to hold a celebration of life in the spring, circumstances permitting. A loving tribute and walk were organized and held by dear friends on September 20th with friends in many different states and as far away as Europe participating.
