Picnic in the Park
Thursdays
No school, no lunch?  Hilltop Christian Church can help! This summer one day of each week we will be serving lunch at the Mantua Village Park.  Picnic in the park is free & open to all, kids and adults.  Serving Thursdays  through August 1st. Serving times are 12:00pm to 1:30pm. Play in the park and have lunch too!  See you there!

Warren Courthouse Square
Now – Aug 31
Every Saturday this summer, beginning July 7th, there will be a whole lot of fun at Courthouse Square.  There will be Art in the Park, sponsored by the Trumbull Art Gallery, free for children and teens.  Ages 4-12 will meet from 1pm-2pm, and teens 13 and up will meet from 2pm-3pm.  At 5 pm there will be Happy Hour painting for adults ($25 fee).  Chess in the Park, sponsored by Chess Is Life, will take place from 3pm-5pm.  Play with this local chess group, or bring a friend.  There are free chess lessons offered for kids.  From 3pm – 5pm the Trumbull County YMCA will have bocce, cornhole, croquet, frisbee, and other lawn games.  In addition, there will occasionally be other events – you can only find out what they are by showing up!

Middlefield Chamber 50/50 Raffle

50/50 Raffle Tickets for sale by the Middlefield Chamber of Commerce members from now until July 27th, when the drawing will be done at the Middlefield Summer Fest.  Tickets are $5 each, or 5 tickets for $20.  You can buy your ticket from Chamber members and also at the Middlefield Summer Fest, which is 11 am to 10 pm at the Middlefield Fire Department property. The Chamber is non-profit and proceeds will go towards The School Safety Program and other community projects.  Call the Middlefield Chamber with any questions 440-632-5705.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

The Garrettsville Curtains up Theatre will present “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” on July 12, 13, 19, 20th at 7pm and July 14, 2013 at 2pm in the James A. Garfield, Iva Walker Auditorium – starring Megan Ryser as Snow White and Ben Vizy as the Prince.  Direction of this production is by Justin Steck and Music Direction by Eric Juzkiw.  This production is a fairy tale play by Jessie Braham White based on the story by the Brothers Grimm. Tickets may be purchased at the door for Adults $10, Children under 12 and seniors over 65 $7 and groups of 15 or more $5 per person. Vacation Bible School

Youth Soccer Practice
July 14, 21 & 28
Calling all youth soccer players in grades 2 thru 8.  There will be soccer open fields from 6:30 – 8 p.m. on July 14th, 21st, & 28th at the Brosius Road soccer fields.  Shin guards are required and bring a soccer ball and water bottle.  We will practice foot skills and go through different drills then play a game.  We are also looking for parents to help.  Contact Russell Thornton (russell61731@yahoo.com), Bob Finney (matrixprints@yahoo.com) or Brian Gorby (bgorby1@yahoo.com) with any questions.  Any person interested in running the Garrettsville youth soccer program please stop by or contact us.  We still have all the info needed to get the program running and have a few options to help.

Mantua Historical Society Meeting
July 15
The Mantua Historical Society will be meeting on July 15th at 7:00 p.m. for a road trip/meeting to a local home to view their antiques.  We will meet at the Town Hall in Mantua Center (State Route #82 and Mantua Center Road) to carpool.  If anyone has an interest in joining the Historical Society, or has any questions about the museum, located in the Town Hall, please contact Lois Summerlin (330-274-8128) or Norm Park (33-274-2171).

Pandamania Vacation Bible School

Nelson UMC on the circle in Nelson is hosting a VBS for kids 3 years olds – 6th grade July 15-18, Pandamania Vacation Bible School will be held from 6-8:30pm. God’s Backyard Bible Camp

Join in the fun at God’s Backyard Bible Camp July 15th – July 19th! The Newton Falls United Methodist Church, 336 Ridge Rd., will hold Vacation Bible School for children preschool -6th Grade from 6:00-8:30 p.m.  Campers will enjoy outdoor games, music, crafts and snacks each night while being introduced to a central idea and life lesson from a Bible story. Vacation Bible School

The Hambden Congregational Church is ready for a Vacation Bible School your kids will never forget. At the Son World Adventure Park Vacation Bible School your kids will be pointed right to Jesus! Children will have a great time singing songs, creating crafts, and playing games. But most important, they’ll discover Jesus provides what they truly need in every challenge of life. Son World Adventure Park will be July 16th -18th at 13840 GAR Highway (Route 6, across from the Hambden Elementary School) from 6-8:30pm.  All Children 4 years old through 5th grade are welcome. Marching Pride Band Camp

Biking for the Band

Biking for the Band, bicycle poker run will be held July 20th to raise funds in support of the Crestwood Scarlet Guard Marching Band. Registration starts at 8am, rolling starts 9-9:30am and drawing stations close at 12:20pm. All score cards must be returned by 1pm. The Friends of the Burton Public Library will hold two book sales in July, July 20 is a “Friends Only” preview sale from 9 a.m. until noon.  Annual Membership to the Friends of the Burton Public Library is just $5 for the year and may be purchased at this sale. The next book sale will be July 27 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. In addition to books, there are magazines, sheet music, puzzles, movies, CDs and more.  Burton Public Library is located at 14458 West Park Street, on the square in Burton Village.

Mission Possible Diabetes Family Event

Registration is open for the 3rd Annual Mission Possible Diabetes Family Event at Ravenna High School on July 27.  The day will include several educational sessions focusing on diabetic health, expert advice, free snacks, lunch, giveaways, and exhibitors with information.  Some of the topics will include: Obesity & Diabetes, Preventing long term complications, Diabetic Drugs, and Truth behind Diabetes and Your Feet. Youth Fall Soccer League Signups

Ravenna Parks and Recreation still have openings for its Youth Fall Soccer League for League U-12 Girls & U-12 Boys: Age 10 by 7/31/13. The U12 league will play teams from Ravenna and as well as other local soccer programs in our area. A tournament will be held at the end of the season. Players receive a team t-shirt for the games. Alumni Soccer Game

The Crestwood High School Boys Soccer Team will be hosting their annual Alumni Soccer Game on August 3rd @ 6:00 pm at the Bowen Rd. field (11256 Bowen Rd in Mantua).  All Crestwood Boys Soccer Alumni are invited to play.  The cost is $10.00 & includes T-shirt & picnic hosted by the current Crestwood boys’ team and families following the game. Crestwood Primary Offers Summer Safety Town Program
August 5-9
Crestwood Primary School (CPS), in conjunction with their PTO, is offering Safety Town for Fall 2013 kindergarteners. The program will run from August 5 – 9 at CPS from 9 – 11:30 am and will cover fire, bus, playground safety, stranger awareness and other important topics to help your child learn to stay safe. Register by July 1 at a reduced rate of $25 per child. If space allows, late registration will be taken on August 5 at a cost of $35 per child. Summer Music Camp

The Garfield band department is again offering its summer music camp for all band students entering 6th through 8th grade.  The camp is August 5-9 and the students will perform a concert on August 9th at 7pm.  The cost of the camp is $35 and includes a t-shirt and a pizza party.
