Mantua – At a recent Mantua Village Council meeting, Mayor Linda Clark announced that Council has selected Steve Chapman as Mantua Village Zoning Inspector. The position was vacant since the death of the previous Inspector, John Vechery, in late December 2012. Mr. Chapman resides in Ravenna, but has roots in the Mantua community as the co-owner of both the Iron Eagle Martial Arts Studio and Poloskey Meats in the Village. In addition, Mr. Chapman also serves Mantua as an auxiliary police officer.

In further news, Mantua Village Council member Linda Schilling tendered her resignation from Council for personal reasons. Mayor Linda Clark noted, “Linda has been on Council for ten years and has always served the community in the best interest of the whole Village.” During her years as a member of Council, Ms. Shilling served on the safety, service, parks and shade tree committees.

In addition, Ms. Shilling facilitated the annual Arbor Day Contest in conjunction with Crestwood Intermediate third grade classes. “Linda’s hard work and dedication to the Village will be sadly missed,” stated Mayor Clark. Mayor Clark presented Ms. Shilling with a certificate of recognition for her many efforts on behalf of the Village during her ten years of service at this week’s Village Council meeting.

Lastly, the Village of Mantua is currently accepting applications for the open position of Village Administrator.  This position may be full or part-time by agreement between employer and applicant. Interested parties should contact Mayor Clark at mantuamayor@sbcglobal.net.

The next regularly scheduled Council meeting will be held on July 16 at 7 p.m.
