Mantua Twp. To Host Egg Hunt

2195

Mantua Twp. – The Easter Bunny is coming to Mantua Township! You and your kids are invited! Mark your calendar for Saturday, April 20th at 10 am and hop on over to the Mantua Township Civic Center to hunt for eggs, greet your neighbors, and say hello to springtime’s most anticipated visitor.

Other than the Bunny, the highlight of the event will be egg hunts for children up to ten years old. Kids will hunt by age group, with a category for kids up to age three; children four through six; and children seven and eight. “We’ve been so isolated from each other,” Jan Oros, one of the event organizers, noted. “This is a great opportunity for families to get outside, have some fun, and see each other after the long, cold winter.” Oros shared that the event will be BYOB — bring your own basket.

The free event will take place at the Mantua Township Civic Center and Township Green at the center of Mantua Township. According to Township Trustee Jason Carlton, a resident suggested a similar event last year during a township trustee’s meeting, but unfortunately, lack of planning time made the event unfeasible. All three trustees agreed to consider the suggestion for the following year. The availability of a grant and the cooperation with the Mantua Restoration Society (MaRSI) made the egg hunt a reality this year.

Carlton commented that there haven’t been many activities for families with young kids, and hopes to draw more families to this free local event. He added, “We’re happy to have the chance to bring the community together and have a little fun.” He noted that his two young daughters are especially looking forward to the event, and encourages parents and grandparents to gather their families and plan to attend.

The egg hunts will take place on the Township Green outside. Visitors will also have an up-close opportunity to see a Mantua-Shalersville Fire District truck. Face painting, coloring pages, bunny crafts, and bounce house will be offered inside the Civic Center. Light refreshments will be served. The Easter Bunny will also be stopping by, so be sure to bring your camera!

This free family-friendly event is presented by the Mantua Township Trustees and Mantua Restoration Society and was made possible by a grant from NOPEC, as well as donations from Sweeties Candy and K & M International.
