Local Potter Tracy Shea to Offer Wheel-Throwing Experiences at Garrettsville Farmers’ Market

2025

Garrettsville – The Garrettsville Farmers’ Market continues through Thursday, August 24. If you haven’t visited yet this year, please come and join us to experience fresh produce from local farms and the small-batch producers that make our Market so special. Come on out from 4:00-7:00pm every Thursday for fresh produce, artisan foods, dinner, live music, art activities, you can even enjoy a DORA from one of our Main Street businesses while you shop!

This time of year, the produce is plentiful at the market, offering fresh sweet corn grown by Next Generation Farm, tomatoes, herbs, peppers, potatoes and more from Bird Song and CopperHawk farms. All in addition to tea, soap products, plantable cards, fresh bread and eggs from Snowpea Farm and Carla’s Breads and More, pasture-raised meat from BB Farm and pickles from Lang’s Pickles.

On August 10 & 17, the the Garrettsville Farmers’ Market welcomes Tracy Shea, a well-known local ceramic artist to offer both wheel-throwing demonstrations and opportunities for kids & adults and try their hand at this age-old art. Tracy will be at the Market on both Thursday, August 10 & Thursday, August 17 from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm. There is no need to register – just come and give working with clay a try! People that throw clay pieces at the Market will have their works fired and Tracy will bring these back to the Market the following week or they’ll be able to arrange to pick them up if that’s not possible.
Largely self-taught, Tracy Shea has been fascinated by the medium of clay since the 1980’s and SheaClay Pottery was born in 2002. Since that time, she has created beautiful and functional items in her home studio in Garrettsville.

Tracy has worked with Cleveland Metroparks, Uncommon Goods catalog, Monica Potter Home, and several area galleries. She has also taught classes at the Valley Art Center in Chagrin Falls, the Arts Adventures after-school program at JAG schools, Camp Asbury in the summers and in her home studio. She loves working with kids & families while teaching them how to throw on a wheel and her passion is only matched by her skill with clay.

Come and visit with her at the Garrettsville Farmers’ Market to see her in action.

Tracy specializes in fine, functional, hand thrown pottery and home decor vessels. The fluid nature of wet clay inspires her work, along with colors, textures and organic shapes from nature. She loves to offer beautifully well-made, useful objects that are unique gifts and a joy to use every day. She sells her work on Etsy and the Uncommon Goods websites, so if you need amazing handmade gifts for the people you love, check out her work at sheaclay.etsy.com during the holidays or anytime.
