The Portage County District Library’s political action committee, known as the Citizens for the Library, will have a sign rally from 2:00 p.m. till 4:00 p.m. October 3rd at the Village Park located at 10482 South Street, Garrettsville, Ohio 44231.

“I think our library is the best-kept secret in town. Where else can you borrow unlimited DVD’s, books and games; use the internet; take  classes; use crafting, quilting and computer equipment and do so much more for only $35 for your entire household for a year? Nowhere else but the library! Please show your support Nov. 3rd with your Yes vote to retain and grow this valuable hub of our communities! The library is seeking a new 1-mill five year levy. A homeowner with an appraised home of $100,000 would pay an additional $35 per year.”

– Amy Crawford, Garrettsville, Ohio

At the rally, Greg Trask, Garrettsville Library’s Branch Manager, will share information and answer questions about the proposed levy.

In addition to getting a yard sign, community members can learn about plans for getting the message out to the public as well as have an opportunity to sign up to volunteer.

In addition to volunteers, the citizens group needs donations toward its campaign efforts.

Donations will be accepted at the gathering or can be sent to Citizens for the Library, Jeff Rinearson, treasurer, 10482 South Street, Garrettsville, OH 44231. Checks should be made payable to Citizens for the Library and should include the donor’s name and street address on the check.

More information about the levy campaign can be found by following the group on Facebook at www.facebook.com/citizensforthelibrary or emailing citizensforPCDL@gmail.com.
