League of Women Voters’ Meet the Candidates Nights Scheduled

The League of Women Voters of Northern Portage County invites members of the community to our 2023 Meet the Candidates nights. There will be three sessions, each covering a different area of northern Portage County.

Aurora

Date/Time: Tuesday October 3, 2023 at 6:30 PM

Location: Harmon Middle School Cafeteria, 130 Aurora Hudson Rd, Aurora, OH 44202

Candidates: City Council, School Board Races

Crestwood Area: Mantua Village, Mantua Township, Hiram Village, Hiram Township, and Shalersville

Date/Time: Thursday October 5, 2023 at 6:30 PM

Location: Crestwood Central Offices Bldg Cafeteria, 110880 John Edward Dr, Mantua, OH 44255

Candidates: Mayor, Council, Trustee, Fiscal Officer, School Board Races

Garrettsville Area: Garrettsville, Nelson, Windham, and Freedom

Date/Time: Monday October 10, 2023 at 6:30 PM

Location: Charles C. Klamer Professional Development Center at the James A. Garfield Schools campus, 10207 OH-88 Garrettsville, 44231

Candidates: Mayor, Council, Trustee, Fiscal Officer, School Board Races

These events will follow a face2face candidate forum format. Community members will be seated at tables while candidates will be rotated to present their message and answer voter questions. This will allow for all candidates present to participate fully in meeting and engaging with their constituents. Candidates will also have time to offer brief remarks to all who are present.

The League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan political organization, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy. LWV-Northern Portage County covers the communities of Aurora, Mantua, Hiram, Garrettsville, Nelson and Freedom.
