Leadership Portage County welcomed the Christmas season by hosting its annual Jingle & Mingle event last Thursday evening at the Over Easy at the Depot Restaurant in Kent.
Having always hosted events throughout the year for community connection, LPC Executive Director Andra Polasky said in an email to The Weekly Villager that the holiday event was a way to bring program alumni together to network and share some holiday cheer.
Per the LPC website, the mission statement of the program is to provide unique insights into Portage County, explore and develop various styles, theories and examples of leadership, provide opportunities to build relationships and networks and serve as a catalyst for volunteerism and positive change in Portage County.
The Jingle & Mingle served as another example of the LPC’s mission last Thursday evening.
The event offered appetizers to all who attended and was not just exclusive to program alumni but also corporate sponsors or community members who were welcome to attend and learn more about the LPC.
This allowed the LPC to again promote their message of stimulating interested or a or a commitment to community involvement in Portage County. That also applied to another one of LPC’s primary goals, which was to identify and develop individuals in Portage County who already have leadership potential and interest and could possibly contribute to the economic, business, governmental, educational, cultural, social and civil development of the community.
In addition to networking, the Jingle & Mingle also served as a fundraiser for Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children, featuring a toy drive. All toys donated would go to the abused and neglected children that CASA helps support.
Polasky added in her email that providing a another fundraiser fulfilled another key point of the LPC’s mission, which was to support Portage County needs.
The event was primarily sponsored Keller Williams Greater Metropolitan Realty Thresholds Group, real estate agent Keleigh Veraldo-Zucchero acted on their behalf.
