For the eighth year in its more than 30 years of history the Garrettsville Eagles Club No 2705 has awarded one $1,000 to a grandson of a member.
Matt Knight is a 2013 graduate of Windham High School as valedictorian and is accepted at the Ohio State University. He will major in Business, Finance and Economics.
His goals are to be successful and happy in the business world and provide for a family down the road.
Beside being recognized as one of the Record-Courier’s Student-Athletes of the Year in Basketball, Matt played football and baseball and was named team captain in all three and carried 3.8 GPA all through his high school carrier. He also was member of Nation Honor Society, Student Council and Choir. During high school, Matt attended 3 post-secondary classes at KSU.
Matt worked part-time at Windham Sparkle Market, and in his spare time he volunteered at Robinson Memorial Hospital in the rehab department and rang the bell for the Salvation Army each holiday season. He kept score for the JV girls basketball and line judged volleyball games for the past 4 years. This summer he is working at a life guard at the Wild Waters Park at Geauga Lake.
This program is in addition to the club’s support of several community services which we hope to continue in future years with the support of our members and the community.
