Keep The Change

The on-line spoofers are at it again. Second or third call this week letting me know that I have won fabulous sums of money, if I will just call back to this number. What the number is, I cannot really tell because the caller either speaks so fast that their words (numbers) are unintelligible or their whole message is garbled, rushed or spoken by someone whose first language is NOT English. I always am suspicious that a company which claims to be giving away big bucks–as is being claimed–does not have personnel available who can speak clearly. Who do you suppose is working in their corporate offices? Is bankruptcy in their future?

Anyhoo…. If I ever locate the numbers and call back for my amazing prize–I forget how many millions–I have a list of charities and organizations which will benefit ASAP, for sure, but I would not advise anyone to hold their breath until the cash arrives–could get pretty blue-in-the-face before it arrives. I have also noticed that the purported source of the winnings closely resembles some actual contests which are out here, like the Publishers Sweepstakes or the Readers’ Digest Giveaway or something else that sounds like an actual giveaway. I am always suspicious when some caller claims to be with the state lottery; the State of Ohio does not give away anything of value, certainly not without a fanfare giving some politician credit. So far, the cash is apparently still out in the ether somewhere, waiting for my call.

One other time I was declared to be the winner of a big potful of money AND a brand-new luxury car of some sort( I requested a blue one), BUT I had to cough up a delivery fee , pre-pay the taxes on my winnings, such as they were, and NOT have the delivery dude meet me at the bank or the police station. Well, that fell through pretty rapidly and I even filed a police report, in case someone came looking for me with nefarious intent. Still no money that I know of. Suppose that somebody out there is riding around in my blue Mercedes?

Not sure where the fraudsters are getting my number ( though just about any info can be dug up by diligent online crooks),but it might be the same ones that keep calling me with information about a “new” program being offered by the state of Ohio (Remember what I said about “freebies” from the state of Ohio?)covering “final expenses” . Soon as an individual crosses some dateline–or deadline–the weasels out there step right up to put the “fear of God” or foreclosure into their hearts or their pocketbooks, hoping to make a buck or two. Me, I’m planning to just be scattered in an end zone somewhere or offer my pieces/parts to medical science–transplants, donations, whatever. I figure that if there’s anything I’m not using and it can be of use to another it can go, with my blessing. Of course, the parts will be “used”, but well-preserved. Nobody would want my nose anyway.
