Joseph Koharchik, age 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2024, and is now reunited with his beloved wife Sandy in heaven. Born on March 15, 1939, in Windber, PA, Joe was one of eight children of Michael and Mary Koharchik.
On February 27, 1965, Joe married the love of his life, Sandy. Together, they built a beautiful life, raising two daughters, Michelle and Claudia, and later becoming proud grandparents to five cherished grandchildren.
A hardworking man, Joe dedicated his career to carpentry and form building, eventually retiring as the plant manager of the precast division at RW Sidley in Thompson. He was known for his integrity, work ethic, and quiet strength.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sandy (2020), and his siblings John, George, Michael, MaryAnn, Patricia, Josephine, and Dorothy. His passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of his surviving family: his daughters Michelle Zivoder (Terry Peterson) and Claudia Koharchik (Brian Salvagni); his grandchildren, Benjamin Coll (Josh Maus), Steven (Lindsey) Zivoder, Jesse (ShyAnn) Zivoder, Alex Hahn, and his prized granddaughter, Emma Hahn (Devon Knotts), bonus daughter Renee Sixkiller, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Joe, lovingly known as “Pop Pop,” was a devoted father and grandfather. His love, guidance, and presence will be missed but cherished forever.
In keeping with Joe’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. His cremains will be joined with his wife Sandy’s for a private family celebration of life at a later time. May he rest in eternal peace, forever reunited with Sandy in heaven, watching over their girls and grandkids.
