John “Moke” W. Howes Jr., 65 of Windham, passed away Monday, August 29, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. John was born June 3, 1957 in Ravenna, Ohio to John Howes Sr. and Mary Sue (Ellison) Howes. For 40 years of his life John was a truck driver hauling cars across the country. John enjoyed fishing, the Dallas Cowboys, vintage cars and he loved spending time with his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather and husband. John will be undoubtedly missed by those who knew him. He is preceded in death by his father John Howes Sr., and mother Mary Sue (Ellison) Howes. John is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth A. (McCauley) Howes, children Jason Vaughn, Bambi Vaughn, Zachariah J. Howes of Windham, Joshua S. Howes of Niles, and Kaitlin E. Howes of Conneaut , son-in-law Cameron R. Nugent of Conneaut, grandchildren, Madison D. Howes, Trenton J. Howes, Mason L. Nugent, Nova L. Nugent and Atlas R. Nugent, his siblings Patrica A. (Howes) Lovis of Windham, Deborah J. (Howes) Cruise of Windham and Donna Howes of Florida, father and mother-in-law Kenneth J. McCauley and Martha L. McCauley of Champion. Per John’s request, cremation has taken place and celebration of life will be Saturday, September 24th, taking place at 9960 E Center St, Windham, Ohio, the American Legion at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
