Janice M. “Jan” Chalker, 93, of Garrettsville, went home to her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 23, 2024. She was born in Garrettsville, on October 28, 1930, to the late James W. and Marie (nee Bennett) Chalker.

She was proud to be born and raised in Garrettsville. Jan graduated from James A. Garfield High School, and went on to get her bachelor degree in Education from Baldwin Wallace University. She spent her illustrious career teaching elementary school for the Kenston School System. Family always came first to Jan; spending time with them, as well as dear friends, was a joy. Jan also enjoyed playing golf, traveling, music, and was a player in the local community plays. She was a long-time member of the Garrettsville United Methodist Church, and sang in the church choir.

Jan will be deeply missed by her loving nieces and nephews, Susan (David) Broz, Nancy (Earl) Roberts, Alfred (Elizabeth Kirk) Land, Barbara (Anton) Grosh, and James (Roberta) Land; cousin, Shirley Cline; numerous great nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings, Annabel Land and James E. Chalker.

Please join the family for a visitation Wednesday, March 27, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231. A funeral service will begin at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m., with Rev. Kristen Patt officiating. She will then be taken to Park Cemetery, where she will be lovingly laid to rest.
