James V. DeLong, 66, of Garrettsville, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 26, 1951 in Bedford, Ohio to Victor and Maxine (Stoneking) DeLong. James married his beloved wife, Karen Gilligan, on July 14, 1979.

He was a former member of the Windham Volunteer Fire Department. James enjoyed woodworking, wheelhorse tractors and spending time in his garage. He was always tinkering with something.

James is survived by his loving wife, Karen; children, Chris DeLong of Erie, Pa, Karrie (Shaun) Headley of Erie, Pa, Kelly (Brian Morgan) of Garrettsville, and Erin DeLong of Garrettsville; brothers, Phillip DeLong of Aurora and Louis DeLong of Kentucky; sister, Lois Weeks of Aurora; grandchildren, Evan, Hayden, Dylan, Owen and soon to come, Ashton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert and sister, Deanna.

Honoring James’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 from 3-5 PM at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, Ohio.
