Garrettsville – The JAG Graduation Committee has put plans in place to celebrate the Class of 2020 beginning this week and culminating  with a special graduation ceremony on Sunday, May 31st at 2pm.

Starting this week, Garfield teachers will be delivering yard signs to every senior’s yard.  Parents are encouraged to take pictures of thier kids next to the sign and post them on social media.

On May 13th seniors will each have an opportunity to visit the campus and receive their caps & gowns from some special guests. A rain date of May 15th is set aside if needed.

Senior banners have been ordered for each graduate and will be displayed on the fence facing State Route 88.  The week of May 18th the banners will be “under the lights” each evening starting at dusk for 4 hours.

On May 29th all of our seniors will participate in a “Senior Parade” that will take them through the entire district in their cars, led by Student Resource Officer, Emily Ahrens.  The route will be posted with anticipated arrival times so the Garfield Community can celebrate this outstanding group of young men and women — please plan to cheer for the students as they pass your homes.

In the coming weeks seniors, and up to 8 guests, will attend graduation. Each senior dressed in cap & gown,  will be scheduled in 15 minute increments, to participate in thier portion of the ceremony. [Social distancing will be practiced while on campus]. The stage will be set, flowers, backdrop and entrance and exit music ready for each graduate. Graduates will be recorded as they walk across the stage, receive thier diploma,  and a photographer will  be in attendence to capture that moment. This will all be assembled, along with speeches and special messages from the  staff, to create the most unique graduation experience JAG has ever witnessed.

The virtual graduation will air on-line at 2 pm, Sunday, May 31st for the entire community to view. In addition each student will receive a DVD copy of the event as well.

The entire community is excited to celebrate the Class of 2020 like no other JAG graduate has been celebrated before.
