On October 20, 2025 the James A. Garfield Historical Society hosted a trio of locally-connected historian types, Tim Smith, Dave English and Kirt Kirtland who related to the group of members and guests their Western Reserve Journey. They were searching for the four markers at the corners of the original survey of the Western Reserve, to be found in Conneaut (NE), Poland (SE) ,Catawba (NW) and Willard (SW). All of these gentlemen had relevant family histories, which they related over the course of the narrations which they offered. Maps and charts also were presented illustrating their discoveries and the historical background for their search. Definitions and origins were presented, questions were entertained and answered, some very local family tales were presented, illustrating the Smith family’s remarkable adventures in the wilderness and beyond. Great history. Great adventure. Great program.
