The September 15, 2025 meeting of the James A. Garfield Historical Society covered a broad range of topics, including :

The return of the time capsule rock…Crane’s crane to be placed in the Society’s small–but lovely–garden…technical difficulties with the replacement of metalwork in the Maple Ave. cemetery–a learning opportunity…expansion of the project involving the summer intern, some high school students may be recruited to help updating the system…committee membership for various functions are still open…a new sign-out sheet will be required for materials on loan…change in scheduled open house hours to attract more visitors…consideration of reading and updating of the organization’s by-laws. A donation was received from Thrivent…an item came from the Chamber…a new member–Candy Hardesty –was welcomed…a new vice president–Cindy Sheehan– was recognized…a letter from the recovering past secretary–Pam Montgomery–was read…Denise Ellerhorst was tapped to do acquisition research for the purchase of a television to be used for programs and research (no cartoons)…the board of trustees will be getting new members.
