Hiram Community Trust: Grant Applications
Due by April 4
Hiram Community Trust provides grant funds for projects that promote a spirit of cooperation among Hiram Village, Hiram Township, Hiram College, and James A. Garfield and Crestwood Local Schools. The purpose of these funds is to enrich life in the Hiram community by funding creative proposals for projects to support community enrichment. Grant applications are due no later than April 4. American Legion Breakfast

Pancake & Sausage Breakfasts

Burton American Legion pancake & sausage breakfasts will be Feb 8-22 on Sundays from 9-1:30. Dinner costs $9 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under. For questions contact Will at 440-635-0223.
JAG Kindergarten Registration
March 24-26
Please call the James A. Garfield Elementary school to set up an appointment to register your child for Kindergarten. The age requirement for the JAG School district is 5 years of age by Sept 30, 2015. Registration and full screenings will take place on March 24, March 25 and March 26, 2015 at the Elementary School, these are the ONLY times we will do complete screenings. Class lists will be finalized in May, so it is imperative that we have your child registered! Please call the Elementary School office at 330-527-2184 for an appointment. It is required that you bring in your child for this appointment.
Newton Falls Kindergarten Registration
February-March
Registration for children entering the Newton Falls School System for the 2013-2014 school year was held in February and the beginning of March. If you have not yet registered your child for next year’s kindergarten, it is important that you do so immediately as there is a mandated screening time which will take place at the end of April. You do NOT need an appointment, but please only come during these times: 8:30-11:30 or 12:30-2:30. It is not necessary to bring your child at this time. To qualify for kindergarten, child must be 5 by August 1, 2013. If you have any questions, you may contact the school secretary, Mrs. Howard, at 330-872-5225 (ext. 2301).
Fish Dinner

Garrettsville Eagles will be serving fish on Fridays beginning Feb13th – Apr 10th from 4 – 7:30 pm. Meals include your choice of fish, shrimp, chicken tenders or a fish/shrimp combo. Meals include baked potato or French fries, coleslaw or applesauce, green beans, roll and butter. Open to the public. Carryout available by calling 330-527-2330.
Valentine’s Day Party

You are invited to a Valentine’s Daty Party Feb 14th from 3-5pm at the Windham Church of Christ Fellowship hall, 9837 Wolf Rd. We will be making Valentine candy, decorating cookies and cupcakes and making cards. Hot dogs and punch will be served. The door prize will be a giant Valentine’s bear.
Free Lunch

A free spaghetti lunch will be served from 12-1pm Feb 14th at the Brick Chapel, 9003 N. Main Street in Windham. Spaghetti will be served a long with side dishes and desserts. It will be provided by the Congregational United Church of Christ. Free lunches will be served the second Saturday of each month, instead of the meals on Thursday nights. Please come and eat lunch with us! All are welcome!
Youth Baseball/Softball Signups

NFYBSL – youth baseball/softball signups boys and girls ages 5-14 will be February 7 & 14 from 10:00 am- 2:00 pm (Sat.) and February 11 – 5:00-8:00 pm (Wed.) at the Newton Falls Community Center, 52 East Quarry. All new players must bring a *copy* of birth certificate.

All-You-Can-Eat Dinner

The dinner will include an auction of hand crafted items made by the youth of CYF United (Christian Youth Fellowship). Funds benefit the CYF summer mission trip to Hazard, KY where the youth will be repairing homes.

Well, look no further than Hiram College. Get instruction from the college’s finest once a week for a four week period. Each lesson lasts forty-five minutes, with an additional fifteen minutes for your child to gain more confidence in the water. Ages four and up welcomed. Home Cooked Supper

The next home cooked supper at Pricetown Methodist Church, 4640 Pritchard-Ohltown Rd, Newton Falls will be Feb 18th from 5-6:30. Dinner will be broiled haddock in a lemon sherry wine sauce or parmesan crusted Romano chicken with potato, vegetable, super salad, roll, dessert and beverage. Cost is still only $7 for adults and $5 for kids. Carry-outs will be available.

Eggs Alive is the theme for this discovery program as preschool children (ages 3-5) explore chickens, eggs and observe the life inside as they incubate and hatch chicks. BioBuddies provides hands-on, developmentally appropriate educational experiences for early learners and are specially designed to develop the cognitive, social, creative and physical skills of early learners.
