Leo A. “Lee” Scerba, 77, of Freedom Township, passed away on October 12, 2015, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 23, 1938, to Adam and Joann (Meus) Scerba. Lee married the love of his life, Carol Zimmer, on October 6, 1976.
Lee was honored to serve as a Sentinel of the Old Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. He also served in the 1st Cav Airborne in Vietnam where he was a Purple Heart recipient. Lee was a former Trumbull County Sheriff’s Deputy, former president of the Vietnam Veterans Association of Trumbull County and former president of the State of Ohio Mounted Deputies. He retired from GM after 30 years and enjoyed bowling, especially his 300 game. Lee loved spending time with his beloved family, friends and animals.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol; daughter, Doreen (Jim) Kukral of Seven Hills; brother, Ronald Scerba of Freedom Township; sister, Frances Donko of Warren; grandchildren, Hailey and Jayce; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Mary Ann Spahr.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 16, 2015, from 5-8 P.M. and Saturday, October 17, 2015, from 8-9 A.M. at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, Ohio. Funeral Services were held on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at 9 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Fred Bell officiating. Burial in Drakesburg Cemetery.
