In other news, the Hiram Police Department recently received the AAA Platinum Award, the highest level of recognition, for Community Traffic Safety. It’s important to note that the Hiram Police Department has received this recognition for the ninth consecutive year, after a two-year absence due to COVID-19.
“We have dedicated much emphasis and attention toward the area of traffic and community safety,” Patrolman Yoder explained. He continued, noting that the Department has implemented programs to educate, demonstrate, and enforce both traffic and pedestrian safety. Program topics featured in Hiram programs include the seat belt use, impaired driving information, child passenger safety seats, and bicycle safety.

“Every year there are tragic traffic-related fatalities that might have been reduced if certain safety precautions were practiced and followed,” Police Chief Brian Gregory noted. “It’s our goal to continue to educate and encourage safety-related practices in our community to create safer roadways. We’re honored to be recognized by AAA in this manner,” Gregory concluded.
The next regularly scheduled Village Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 13th at 7 pm; residents are encouraged to attend.
