Hiram – As Covid-19 continues to be an issue, local communities have adapted to ensure that local government services continue for their residents. In Hiram Village, residents continue to have the opportunity to safely participate in local committee and council meetings. In fact, the Recreation and Park Board will meet on Thursday, October 8th at 4:30 pm. Residents also have the opportunity to participate in the next village council meeting on Tuesday, October 13th at 7 pm.

Both meetings will take place on Zoom.com; visit hiramvillage.edu or call the village offices at the Rosser Municipal Building (330) 569-7677 from 8 am until 4 pm Monday through Friday to find out how to join in. Please note that village offices will be closed on Monday, October 12th in observance of Columbus Day.

The village Administrator reported that curbside leaf pick up will begin this month as soon as accumulation warrants. As residents rake leaves to the curb, they are asked to refrain from including twigs and branches with the leaves. In related news, residents are asked to remove spent flowers and faded silk arrangements from gravesites by October 31st to help the Service Department prepare for the coming winter season.

In other news, the folks at Maggie’s & More have recently added a menu board to aid customers wishing to utilize the shop’s drive-thru. From coffee and donuts to sandwiches, smoothies, ice cream or pumpkin roll, you won’t need to leave your car to place your order then get on your way.

Lastly, while most events at Hiram College are limited to students, faculty, and staff this fall due to covid-19 restrictions, all are invited to experience the fall ensemble concert via live stream on Monday, November 16th at 4:30 pm. For information on how you can enjoy this musical performance on your computer or device, contact Abigail Stevenson at (330) 569-5177 or stevensonan@hiram.edu for connection details.

The next regularly scheduled village council meeting will take place on Tuesday, October 13 at 7 pm; visit hiramvillage.org for instructions on how to connect via Zoom.com.
