Hiram Twp. – At their 2022 organizational meeting, trustees appointed Jack Groselle as Trustee Chairman and Steve Pancost as Vice Chairman. In addition, trustees agreed to continue to meet on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 pm in the township’s new building. On a related note, Fiscal Officer Eric Hankinson noted that the township received an occupancy permit for the new building from the county.
In public comment, residents Frank and Celia Tench of Cadek Road asked for assistance in solving an issue with the way their physical address is reflected on Google Maps. In spite of addressing the issue with Google directly over the past four years, Google Maps continue to denote the Tench’s driveway as Cadek Road, causing delivery trucks to be directed to their home, often getting stuck in their driveway. Since their efforts have yet to be fruitful, Trustee Pancost will take the issue to Regional Planning for help in correcting the issue. As an aside, since excess snow gets pushed to the back of the road’s cul-de-sac, Road Supervisor Tom Matota will investigate removing vegetation from the center of the circle in the spring to improve access on this roadway.
Any residents interested in playing a part in the Township’s zoning matters are urged to apply for the open Zoning Board alternate position. In addition, a cleaning person is needed at the new building. To express interest in either of these positions, please contact a trustee — contact information can be found at https://hiramtownship.org.
The next regularly-scheduled meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 15th at 7 pm in the Township Administration Building at 6352 State Route 82 in Hiram.
