Heritage Festival takes over Kent this Saturday

1928

The annual Kent Heritage Festival will be held on Saturday, July 6th, offering a variety of activities for the entire community.

The all-day event will feature a classic car show, live music on two stages, and a children’s play and activity area. Public safety demonstrations will be offered by the Kent Police and Fire departments, with vehicles on display for exploration. Safety Town, games, and hands-on activities will also be available for children.

Over 20 food vendors will be present, including local favorites like Brooks Homestyle BBQ, GRAZERS, Mamacita’s, Stoddards Ice Cream, and Roll Call Burger and Fries. Traditional fair food options such as funnel cakes, elephant ears, pierogies, and corn dogs will also be available.

Nearly 70 information and vendor booths will showcase non-profit organizations and artisans selling handmade crafts. The Kent Jaycees will host their popular “Ducks Down the River” race at 6 pm with assistance from the Kent Fire Department.

Downtown Kent businesses will be open throughout the festival, including restaurants, the Haymaker Farmers’ Market, breweries, pubs, coffee shops, art galleries, and retail stores. A designated outdoor refreshment area (DORA) will allow festival-goers to enjoy beverages purchased from participating establishments within a specific zone.

PBS will join the festivities with a Daniel the Tiger story time on the Hometown Bank Plaza at 1:45 pm. The event will conclude with a fireworks display at dusk.

Downtown streets will be closed to vehicle traffic during the festival. Admission is free and open to the public.
