The Crestwood Community Care Coalition (4Cs) has been helping families in the Crestwood School District for over 20 years. Now, you’ve got a chance to help them by doing something you probably already do anyway. The more donations of money and non-perishable food they receive now through April 30th, the more Feinstein Challenge money the 4Cs will get.
For the 16th consecutive year, Alan Feinstein’s Foundation will divide $1 million among nonprofit hunger-fighting agencies nationwide to help them raise funds in March and April. Roger Hurd, Donations Coordinator for the 4Cs, states, “We raised nearly $300 last year from the Feinstein Challenge. That enabled the 4Cs to purchase an additional 12,000 -14,000 pounds of food through the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.”
Feinstein’s past challenges have raised over $1.50 billion for over 1,800 agencies and houses of worship nationwide. “Why am I doing this?” asks Feinstein. “Because I believe each of us was put here on earth to do what we can to help those in need.”
Every donation received by the 4Cs through April 30th will earn the organization $1.00 per item or pound. According to the foundation web site, many agencies in past years have increased their donations two to three times their usual returns this time of the year by using the Challenge.
Feinstein challenges us all, “My money started this campaign but it is you who will help decide how many needy people in your city or town will be fed this year.”
