Helen E. Manlove, 96, of Garrettsville, went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 26, 2023. She was born on July 22, 1926, in Ravenna, OH, to the late Glenn S. and Anna (nee O’Neill) Lewis.
She was a graduate of Hiram College, where she met and married Kendall Manlove, in 1947. Helen taught math at James A. Garfield High School for many years. She was a member of the Garrettsville United Methodist Church, the 20th Century Club, and the Jr. Women’s Club; when in the Jr. Women’s Club, they earned money to start the first Kindergarten class in Garrettsville. Helen also was a volunteer in the gift shop at Robinson Memorial Hospital for 15 years. She loved to play games, and playing Bridge was one of her favorites. Helen also enjoyed reading books, sewing, and traveling.
Helen will be deeply missed by her loving daughters, Gail (Paul) Rumsey and Carol (Herb) Snider; grandchildren, Kendall (Brintha) Manlove, Ashley (Michael) Decklever, and Leanne (Ben) Loyd; great grandchildren, Amaithi, Vittoria, and Daniel; niece, Dianne Bradfield; daughter-in-law, Rosalice Manlove, as well as many other nephews and nieces, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kendall Manlove; son, Mark Manlove, and sister, Dorothy Williamson.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. in Park Cemetery, Center & Brosius Rd., Garrettsville, OH, 44231, with the Rev. Richard Thewlis officiating. Memorial visitation was held on the same day, from 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M., at the Garrettsville United Methodist Church, 8223 Park Ave, Garrettsville, OH 44231. A memorial service began at the church at 4:00 P.M. Care for Helen was entrusted to Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231.
