James A. Garfield Middle School track team went to the Ohio State Finals on May 26th and did great considering we don’t even have a track to run on. They practice in the school parking lot! Lauren Jones finished 1st in state and set a new track record in discus with a throw of 114’ 9” and 3rd in shot put with a throw of 40’ 5”. Cole Dean placed 4th in shot put with a throw of 42’ 6”. In long jump, Anthony DeNigris placed 2nd at his 7th grade level and Seth Morgan placed 9th. The last event was the 4×4 that was run by Kyle Borrelli, Anthony DeNigris, Dalton Michaels and Seth Morgan. They placed third with a time of 3:54. Earlier in the season the 4×4 team beat a track record at Woodridge and a school record that was set almost 20 years ago. It was a huge year for them! Coaches for the team are Craig and Lori Morgan (running events) and Bruce Jones (field events).
