The Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary Club convened Monday, diving headfirst into the spirit of the upcoming holidays during their meeting. The main agenda revolved around preparations for adorning the Garrettsville gazebo by the Boardwalk. Plans were set in motion to festoon the area with garlands, dazzling lights, and a beautifully adorned tree. The aim is to create a warm and inviting atmosphere in time for Santa’s anticipated arrival on November 25.

In addition to embellishing the gazebo, the club revealed its intentions for a Christmas party scheduled for December 18 at 6:00 p.m. Among the traditions, white elephant gifts are expected, alongside the customary ‘dishes to pass’ for all attendees. Moreover, extending support for the People Tree initiative, the club will adopt a family of four, initiating immediate shopping efforts to assist them during this holiday season.

Highlighting their commitment to education, the Dictionary Project will be a significant event scheduled for December 15 at both Garfield and Windham. Gratitude will be expressed to all contributors who helped make the recent Reverse Raffle a successful endeavor, with personalized local print cards as tokens of appreciation.

A special mention was made regarding exchange student Sarrah, who actively participated in a local district event organized for members involved in the exchange program. Notable guests attending the meeting included Renee Walker from Inn at the Pines and Jimmy Mckendrick.

The customary ‘Happy Bucks’ segment was filled with cheerful anecdotes, celebrating a myriad of joyous moments, including a pleasant weekend, the return of a daughter home, festive Thanksgiving invitations, managing to avoid COVID-19, positive improvements in a wife’s health, the joy of cookies, and the simple pleasure of waking up to a new day.
