Geauga Parks Hosts Summer Horse Back Rides

523

Attention Geauga equestrians! Four free summertime horseback rides with Naturalist Dottie Drockton are now open for registration, including some great training opportunities for your favorite horse.

To peruse this season’s offerings and sign up for any that interest you, visit www.geaugaparkdistrict.org and click Programs & Events, then filter by program activity “Horseback riding.”

July’s rides will help you explore the connection between Holbrook Hollows and Cleveland Metroparks’ South Chagrin Reservation from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., either Sunday, July 17, or Friday, July 22.

Up to a challenge? Try the Trail Horse Nature Challenge on Saturday, August 27, to face natural trail obstacles and Nature questions along the trails of The West Woods, with awards and certificates given in youth and adult categories. For a one or two-hour time slot between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., all you have to do is register.

And finally, while spots are still available, register for an entirely unique and exclusive experience in the park, Horseback Riders: Amish Buggy Training & Trail Ride, on Saturday, September 10, at Swine Creek Reservation. Together, at 9:30 a.m., you and your horse will meet and experience a stationary and moving Amish horse and buggy in a non-threatening way courtesy of Rhoda Wengerd. Then, at 11 a.m., Naturalist Dottie will lead a trail ride till 12:30 p.m. Pack a lunch and stay till 1:30 p.m. to enjoy some rider camaraderie and the beautiful weather that comes in late summer!

Equestrians can always find detailed information about available horse trails and park rules for riding at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org under Activities, then Horseback Riding, or call 440-286-9516 with questions.
