Burton – The Geauga County Historical Society reminds the public that its 2016 clothing exhibit, titled Vintage Summer Fashions, will continue to be open for public viewing every Friday afternoon through October 7, 2016, from noon to 4 P. M., as well as during the Apple Butter Festival on Saturday and Sunday, October 8 and 9, 2016. The exhibit is displayed in the Society’s Law House on the grounds of Century Village Museum in Burton, Ohio. The exhibit will be closed and dismantled after that last noted date.
For the past four years, the Society’s Textile Committee has featured portions of its extensive clothing collection in special summer exhibits. Carefully selected and skillfully presented, these articles of apparel have provided exciting snapshots of the fashions of the past. Prior exhibits have included the themes of World War II uniforms, wedding dresses over one hundred years, and evening attire. This year the Society looks at the changing trends in summer fashions. Come and see a fascinating collection of clothing that has been worn in the good old summertime over the decades.
The Friday showings are free of charge. Donations are welcomed for funding future summer exhibits. A catalog is available. Private showings on other days and times may be arranged for a small fee. For more information, call Century Village Museum at 440-834-1492 Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
