Garrettsville – On behalf of the Garrettsville Area Chamber of Commerce members, we are all incredibly proud of the tenacity and resilience of our community. An enormous THANK YOU to ALL of the emergency personnel who responded to this past weekend’s fire.
The outpouring support from local residents, and the surrounding area has been incredible.
In the wake of the devastating fire that destroyed an entire block of our historic Main Street, the question we are hearing most is “How can I help?”
Over the last two days a number of fundraisers and benefits for the Garrettsville business district have been launched. We have even received offers of support from as far away as southern Texas and the Carolinas.
In an effort to protect our area business owners and residents, the Village of Garrettsville and the Garrettsville Area Chamber of Commerce are requesting that ALL fundraising efforts for the Village of Garrettsville be logged in through the Chamber of Commerce by contacting Michelle Zivoder, Chamber Secretary at 330.472.7304 or via email at news@weeklyvillager.com.
A list of fundraisers and opportunities that have been screened by the Chamber of Commerce is maintained at: http://garrettsvillearea.com/help
On Monday afternoon an emergency board meeting was held by the Chamber of Commerce to establish a fund for donations received for reconstruction efforts on Main Street. We are asking that anyone planning or running a fundraiser direct donations to the ‘GarrettsvilleStrong’ fund. Donations may be made in person at the Garrettsville branch of Middlefield Bank, or by mailing checks to:
