Garrettsville – Village officials present at the special village council meeting on June 22nd were Village Solicitor Michele Stuck, Mayor Rick Patrick, Fiscal Officer Deb Wordell, and Councilpersons Tom Hardesty, Chris Knop, Jeff Kaiser, Larry Beatty, John Chambers and Tom Collins. Due to COVID-19 social distancing requirements the meeting was held in person with no audience; however, the meeting was streamed to Facebook for the public. After the meeting was called to order by Mayor Patrick, council dove right in to the ordinances in need of review.

Ordinance 2020-13, an ordinance to adopt the tax budget for the 2021 fiscal year received its second reading at the June 22nd meeting. Wordell shared that she would be sharing the budget documents with council online after the meeting, giving them time to review the figures before the July council meeting.

Ordinance 2020-15, an ordinance appointing Donna Love the Fiscal Officer of the village of Garrettsville, was approved on first reading. A follow-up ordinance, number 2020-16, was also approved making Deb Wordell Assistant Fiscal Officer for the village of Garrettsville.
Council reviewed a request to authorize advertising of a part-time Water/Sewer Clerical Assistant. Hardesty reminded Patrick that the position is an option the village can take but is not an immediate need. Kaiser asked if the position being discussed was in the 15-20 hour per week range. Council moved to approve advertising the position. Stuck reminded council to post the position in all the departments as well, per the Village handbook.

The meeting was adjourned following the vote.
