Garrettsville Summerfest Announces Open Call Auditions for Idol

2405

Have you ever dreamed of being on The Voice or American Idol, thinking, “I can do that!”  Well, we can’t guarantee you’ll be on either show, but we can offer you a chance to use your singing talent to earn some cash.

If  you are available April 14th, May 19th and June 30th, you need to consider auditioning for this year’s Garrettsville Idol — the grand finale event that closes out the Summerfest Festival every year on the fourth weekend in June. Adults will compete for a $1000 cash prize awarded to the winner at the finals held during Summerfest, while the youth and teens will each compete for $500.

The open-call auditions are scheduled for Sunday, April 14, 2019 at the Iva Walker Auditorium in James A. Garfield High School at 1p.m. (Use event entrance) Contestants are asked to come prepared to sing an entire song without musical accompaniment. The closed audition, with no audience has been broken down into the following three age brackets (if your birthday falls after the 1st audition date, but before Summerfest use the age you are on April 14, 2019): youth 8– 12 years, teen 13-17 years and adults 18 years and up. The youth and teen auditions will start at 1pm, and the adults will start at 2pm. Please arrive 15 minutes early to fill out a biography sheet for our program.

Registration can be done online at www.garrettsvillesummerfest.com  click on Garrettsville Idol and fill out the registration form or you  may also register by mail — label the top of paper with Garrettsville Idol include name, address, email address, phone number, and date of birth and send it to Garrettsville Summerfest at 8311 Windham Street Garrettsville, Oh 44231. Idol registration can also be dropped of at Skylanes Bowling Alley (8311 Windham Street Garrettsville, Oh. 44231) as well.

Registration can be done at the door on April 14th but it is preferable that you register prior to the event. More information, including the rules, can be found at www.garrettsvillesummerfest.com  or by calling Aaron King (330) 524-2646.

There have been some rule modifications this year so be sure to check the website for the changes.

Finalist Exemption Rule returns and is as follows: Any previous year finalists (finalists are anyone who performed on the Summerfest stage in 2018) are exempt from competing in the open-call auditions if they choose and will advance to the semi-finals, providing they have turned in their paperwork prior to April 14, 2019
