Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary Report

2245

The Rotary Club of Garrettsville-Hiram met in the cloud on May 13, 2020 to discuss, among other things, returning to meeting Mondays at noon in Cal’s II, Sky Plaza, Garrettsville. Final word will be out ASAP, to coincide with general opening of restaurants.

In other business : The co-operation with Toastmasters for instruction in public speaking for students is still on the table as an on-going project. There will be a video for the 2020 Rotary scholarship award. Papers must be filled out to qualify for the A.C. Baker Award. The sponsorship of the summer Snack Pack program is still on; details later. G-H Rotary will be joining other community groups in sponsoring the Summer Fireworks for Seniors on May 31 event at James A. Garfield High School. Signatures are needed for the memorandum of understanding for approval of the next grant proposal from the district.  Ohio Prairie Nursery may be called in to consult on the plantings at the Headwaters Trail trailhead in town. Other co-operative projects including the Trail with the Mantua-Shalersville Rotary–possibly including the DMRC–are being proposed. Santa’s sleigh is being repaired (Christmas is still coming).

Bills need to be paid.

Happy bucks–for a combined bachelors/masters class at CWRU, a University of Akron grad, support from the community for folks who normally do summer festivals and are struggling now, ditto for the Eagles and all other groups whose fund-raising efforts will have to be re-designed. We’re all in this together.
