Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary Report

1801

The Rotary Club of Garrettsville-Hiram met remotely on May 6, 2020 to discuss the following:

What to do about Memorial Day observances is being considered by Council and others normally part of the activities, possibly including live streaming, volunteer musicians to perform “Taps” and a recording of the Garfield Pride playing the National Anthem; more news later.

The Nelson-Garrettsville Community Cupboard food pantry operations seem to be going well, as reported by Ted Lysiak, with curbside delivery of pre-packed family bags of provisions; summer packers are needed. Mac & cheese and tuna are needed but, over all, supplies are holding up. School meals are continuing, aided by federal programs. Snack Packs and the very popular Birthday Bags are continuing, and should be going on over the summer, aided by donations and volunteers.

Final information on SummerFest is coming soon. Donations for sponsoring the fireworks display as a tribute to 2020 seniors are being solicited; G-H Rotary will participate in this. The Reverse Raffle in the Fall is still a Work in Progress; there will be changes, across the board in all parts of the community. Grant documents need to be signed before the district committee gives approval.

Should the Rotary Scholarship awards presentation be videoed? Location of plantings for the Headwaters Trail has yet to be determined; more planning for plantings is on tap.
All staying healthy and in touch. It’s all good.
