The Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary Club spent much of their December 2, 2019 meeting on a calendar review and planning for new adventures.
The December 9 meeting will be held in McCumbers-Brady Realty with a view to sorting pictures, banners, memorabilia of all sorts which belong to the club. There will be sorting, assessment, and some pitching to be done, probably photographed. On December 16, the group will meet for the annual Christmas Party, featuring the renowned Jackson recipe cheeseburger soup and a white elephant gift exchange. December 20 is the drop-off deadline for the annual Rotary Santa Gift Delivery; gifts may be taken to MB Realty, The Business Works or the Garrettsville branch of the Middlefield Bank. Gifts will be delivered on December 23. There is no charge for the appearance of the jolly old elf but any donations will go to the People Tree, which serves those in need throughout the year. Because of the press of activities and celebrations in the community, there will be no noon meetings on December 23 and December 30. Regular Monday meetings at noon in Cal’s II, Sky Plaza, Garrettsville will resume in the new year.
Other discussion during the meeting covered the possibility of replacing some of Santa’s haberdashery or having back-up costumes and characters. The budget for the upcoming year will be up for consideration, focussing on village locations and improvements and possible changes in the operation of the Reverse Raffle. New projects will be considered. A local on-line group was mentioned and urged to be more positive and constructive; actual workers and volunteers are always welcome. Building is not done with complaints.
Happy Bucks were pitched in in recognition of a granddaughter’s delight in a movie experience, the possibility of clearing out some storage items, young people talking and–over all–a fine holiday with family and friends.
It’s all good.
