Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary Report

892

The Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary Club enjoyed a presentation by Ashley Hineman of Growing Daisies Ministry at their meeting on August 12, 2019.  The Ministry, only recently approved as a 401(c) organization, works, solely with volunteers and donations to support children…and adults…with many basic needs, including clothing and shoes, school supplies, personal care items, books, toys–no cash; each bag also includes a Bible and good thoughts from the donors. The group has helped over 800 individuals in greater Portage County, relying on the generosity of the community and timely good fortune.  Their Facebook page offers more information, pictures and opportunities to be part of the good works that they do.  No one is turned away. Stu Buchanan was in attendance, having come for pick-up of the Shoebox Project boxes to go to Nicaragua (so far, over 900 boxes have gone to that country from District 6630).  He also chimed in with a Happy $  for the Rotary Day game of the Cleveland Indians in support of the End Polio Now campaign (Tito Francona is in the picture).

The grant money for the Headwaters Trailhead  project is now completely spent.  The next project on the drawing board, the Snack Pack NGCC enterprise, has been deemed “fundable” and is entered into the district grants committee budgeting process…fingers crossed.

Happy $ were on the table for a new grandbaby, a new real estate broker, a house-flipping project making progress, attendance by Stu Buchanan and his active participation in Rotary activities district-wide.

A fine meeting presided over by president ?pro-tempore?, Debra Blake.

Steak fry is teed up for August 21.
