Sprung along with Spring, the Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary met on April 7, 2025 to get ahead of the game , namely, the latest project, featuring the acquisition of lockboxes to assist first responders in gaining access to homes when emergency responses are needed. Guests in attendance represented Garrettsville Village Police Department, Windham Village & Township, Garrettsville, Freedom, Nelson Volunteer Fire Department, Community EMS, Portage County Sheriff’s office; Hiram Village & Township will be similarly invited to participate. More information will be forthcoming; the public will be invited to learn more about security and sustainability issues as well as other areas of concern, including availability and cost.
Recent downpour events have brought about some issues on the Tom Collins Memorial Rotary Walking Trail at the South Street (Bill Phelps) Park. Village Maintenance will be consulted, as will the original contractor. Thoughts on signage and lighting also came up. Benches have been ordered for the Renaissance Ctr. in Windham. Crane’s crane is in rehab.
Happy Bucks came in for: a recent birthday (39 again!), incipient grandma-hood, a happy anniversary, a presentation to the Nelson LMC, this meeting itself, Rotary travel, a great breakfast with more than one hero, “just because”.
It’s all good.
