Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary Report

320

Garrettsville-Hiram Rotary Club met on October 10, 2022 in Cal’s II, Sky Plaza, Garrettsville at high noon to deal with many topics.

One of them was a presentation by Cindy Sheehan, representing the Friends of the Library, Garrettsville branch, advocating for, and seeking support for the creation of the Miss Terri Lawless Room in the children’s section of the library. Miss Terri was the children’s librarian and the “Story Lady” for generations of young readers/listeners and is certainly worthy of a lasting recognition of her service to kids and the community. Local artist Joe Leonard will be designing and advising on the plaque and the decor for the project to make it remembrance-special.

Donations are being sought from individuals and organizations in the community. Contributions can also be made through smile.amazon.com.

Membership applications are still out; more are welcome.

The Loop project will be presented at the next village council meeting. This is a memorial project honoring the late council member, Tom Collins and is the subject of a likely Rotary grant application. Council approval is being sought before any hard-and-fast plans can be made; possibly it can be divided into stages for completion. Members are urged to attend the meeting. The semi-annual Trash Pick-up is scheduled for Friday, October 14 beginning at 9:00 a.m. from Hillbrook Farm on St. Rte. 82. Boots are suggested; gloves & bags furnished.

The Reverse Raffle is on the way, November 2. All systems are GO ! Planning meetings continue. Tickets are available. More raffle baskets are welcome. Donations of these items may be dropped off at Middlefield Bank. The sound system is set (Don’t blow in the mic.). Some participation rules have been tweaked and set.

Happy Bucks were offered for (thankfully) a covid recovery and a terrific trip to Maine. It’s all good.
